2nd BioTech Business Café27-09-06

“Leveraging your Intellectual Property (IP) to increase the value of your business” was be the central theme of the second BioTech Business Café (BBC). For the biotech industry, resources such as patents and licenses, technological know-how and goodwill should be carefully recognised, protected and used. 45 Entrepeneurs visited this business meeting which took place in Maastricht on Wednesday 27 September 2006 at the ‘The Colonel’, where the offices of Life Sciences Limburg sponsor Ernst & Young are located.

Dr. Fred Bollen, chair of Life Sciences Limburg opened the session with a general presentation on Life Sciences (for his presentation click here), and introduced the first speaker: Mr. Lydia Ritzema, Attorney at Law of Holland Van Gijzen, who spoke on "Legal aspects and practical tips regarding IP"

Next Drs. Paul Fieten, Transaction Advisory Services of Ernst & Young gave his presentation on "Valuation of your IP-assets and financial implications"

Last but certainly not the least speaker was Dr. Martin Salden of Euro-Diagnostica, who explained how their IP strategy proved very successful for the company in "IP, let it work for your company"

After the presentaions a forum discussion followed in which the speakers answered questions from the audience. Except for the above mentioned speakers, 2 other IP experts joined the forum: Joep Muijrers, Ph D, General manager of BioMedbooster, and Ing. René Janssen, IP Consultant at Octrooicentrum Nederland.
